In the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) closed horns with Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 24.
Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 36 runs to hand them their 8th consecutive defeat in the 2022 Indian Premier League.

Previously, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first and made no changes to the XI in play. However, Lucknow Super Giants were forced to make a change when young Madhya Pradesh pacer Avesh Khan ran into a glitch and Mohsin Khan replaced him on the team.
Bowling all-rounder Daniel Sams opened the attack for Mumbai Indians against Lucknow Super Giants openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock and he bowled 4 point balls while conceding just 2 runs. Hrithik Shokeen handed over for second and threw 5 dot balls while giving up 4 runs. The third over was a big one for Lucknow Super Giants, as the openers defeated Sams for 14 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah got the first break for MI in the 4th over by sacking Quinton de Kock for 10 on the last ball from the over. Riley Meredith gave up 2 runs in the 5th over and Jaydev Unadkat gave up 3 runs in the 6th over and at the end of the power play Lucknow Super Giants were at 32/1.
Rahul and Manish Pandey continued to hit cautiously for the next few overs, but they attacked Riley Meredith in the 10th over, crushing 17 runs, helping LSG reach 72/1 by the end of the 10th over.
LSG skipper Rahul completed his half century on 37 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six. Kieron Pollard broke the 58-run partnership between LSG skipper and Manish Pandey by sacking the latter for 22 in the 12th over. The next 3 wickets came quickly as Marcus Stoinis got out for a duck in the 13th over, Krunal Pandya came out for 1 in the 14th over and Deepak Hooda came out for 10 in the 16th over.
Finally, Rahul completed his century at Wankhede Stadium in the 61st ball in style by breaking a maximum to squeeze out pacemaker Riley Meredith and become the first ever player to score 3 100 against an opponent in Indian Premier League history .

Rahul’s innings ended with 103* runs off 62 balls, including 12 fours and 4 sixes. He added 47 runs with Ayush Badoni in the last few overs to help Lucknow Super Giants score 168 runs against MI.
Chasing after goal, Ishan Kishan started extremely slow, but skipper Rohit Sharma played an aggressive knock and helped Mumbai Indians score 43 runs in the power playovers.
Ravi Bishnoi sent Ishan Kishan away on the first pitch of the 8th over and Kishan played a terrible knock of 8 runs off 20 balls. Also left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan sent Dewald Brevis over for 3 in the 9th.

Rohit Sharma’s good 39 runs knockout came to an end in the 10th over which was bowled by Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni sent Suryakumar Yadav for 7.
In the end, Tilak Varma fought hard, playing a good 38 runs and 27 balls, but the pressure took over and he lost his wicket in the 18th, which was bowled by Jason Holder. Kieron Pollard looked totally out of shape and the Mumbai Indians horror show in the 2022 Indian Premier League went on.
