Updated points table, orange cap and purple cap after match 34 DC vs RR

The 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) was played between Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday, April 22.

Both teams entered the game with a win in their previous match when Delhi Capitals decimated Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals won a close battle against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) were able to beat Delhi Capitals (DC) in a thrilling encounter by 15 runs to win their 5th game of the season.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field first and they fielded the same playing XI from the last game. Also, Rajasthan Royals has not made any changes to the playing XI.

Khaleel Ahmed opened the attack for the Delhi Capitals, casting a good line and length to Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler, but eventually got 2 fours in the over and Shardul Thakur delivered a close second by bowling 5 dot balls.

Lalit Yadav gave up 3 runs in the 3rd over, Mustafizur Rahman gave up 14 runs in the 4th over, and Lalit threw in another 3 run but Khaleel Ahmed was crushed for 15 runs in the 6th over and at the end of the power play Rajasthan Royals were at 44/0. After the power play, the Rajasthan Royals openers accelerated the innings and at the end of the 11th over they were 104/0.

After that, Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal continued to frantically against the Delhi Capitals bowling unit before Devdutt Padikkal was sacked by Khaleel Ahmed in the 16th left. The Rajasthan Royals openers in particular had a massive partnership of 155 runs off 91 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored 54 runs off 35 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler completed his century in the 16th over. He scored 116 runs off 65 balls, including 9 fours and 9 sixes before being sacked by Mustafizur Rahman in the 19th over.

In the end, Sanju Samson played an astonishing 46 runs, knocked off 19 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes, helping Rajasthan Royals (RR) 222/2 on the plate.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner chased the target and got off to a flying start, but Prasidh Krishna broke the partnership of 43 runs by sacking David Warner in the 5th over 28.

On the 1st ball of the 5th over Ravichandran, Ashwin cleared Sarfaraz Khan for 1. Also, Ashwin took his second wicket by sacking Prithvi Shaw for 37 runs in the 10th over. Rishabh Pant scored 44 runs off 24 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, before being sacked by Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over.

In the end, Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell took some explosive blows, but it wasn’t enough for Delhi Capitals (DC) to win the match.
