Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. They made two big changes to the playing XI when Jimmy Neesham replaced Rassie Van Der Duusen and Obed McCoy replaced Kuldeep Sen. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants made only one change when Ravi Bishnoi replaced Karan Sharma.
Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals openers – Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal – were unable to put together a good partnership as the 31-year-old England wicketkeeper batsman was sacked by Avesh Khan on the second ball of the 3rd left.
With the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal and a good at bat by Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals was able to score 51/1 in the power play overs. Meanwhile, Jason Holder got the second break for LSG by firing RR skipper Sanju Samson for 32 in the 9th over.
Then Ayush Badoni broke the 26-run partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal by sacking the latter, who scored 41 runs off 29 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six.
Also, Devdutt Padikkal scored an astonishing 39 runs off 18 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes before being sacked by leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the 14th over.
After that, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult made major contributions to help RR place 178/6 on the board.

Lucknow Super Giants chased goal and had a bad start when Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni were sacked by Trent Boult in the 3rd over. Also skipper KL Rahul was fired by Prasidh Krishna in the 6th over. At the end of the power play, Lucknow Super Giants were at 34/3.
Next, Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda had a brilliant partnership of 65 runs in 46 balls, before the former was sacked by Ravichandran Ashwin in the 14th left.
Then LSG lost 3 quick wickets when Deepak Hooda was knocked out for 59 by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 16th over, while Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chameera came out in the 17th over. In the end, Marcus Stoinis fought alone but couldn’t help LSG win and they lost their 5th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League.

That time of year again :). This time Royals have an advantage over LSG as they will play 2 days later. Royals know how much they need to lose or gain to finish in the top 2 or qualify for the playoffs. In such a competitive competition I really hope there will be another tiebreak soon https://t.co/Np0BGEZkMj

LSG’s mid-order issues emerged quite late in the tournament, prompting them to make drastic changes. The only other option they have is Manish Pandey who can only replace Badoni.

#LSG bought Marcus Stoinis to work miracles. But don’t let him go through enough deliveries to actually get them done. #RRvsLSG #IPL2022
