Earlier, after being delayed by nearly an hour due to rain, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis came to the field and Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and chose to bowl first.
LSG made two major changes to the XI in play when Jason Holder and Krishnappa Gowtham were replaced by Krunal Pandya and Dushmantha Chameera. On the other hand, RCB made only a single change to the playing XI when Mohammed Siraj replaced Siddharth Kaul.
Left-armer Mohsin Khan got the first break for LSG in the first over himself by dismissing RCB captain Faf du Plessis on the 5th ball of the over for a golden duck.
After losing the skipper’s wicket, Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli hit brilliantly and at the end of the power play RCB was at 52/1 with Patidar at 33 and Kohli at 18.
Avesh Khan broke the 66-run partnership between Patidar and Kohli by sacking the latter for 25 in the 9th over.
Explosive batter Glenn Maxwell scored just 9 runs before being fired by Krunal Pandya in the 11th over. After the strategic leg spinner timeout, Ravi Bishnoi sent Mahipal Lomror over for 14 in the 14th.
In the end, Rajat Patidar crushed an exceptional century and Dinesh Karthik played a great blow to help RCB score 207/4.
Also in death overs, RCB batters hit 84 runs. Rajat Patidar scored 112* runs on 54 balls, including 12 fours and 7 sixes, while Dinesh Karthik scored 37* runs on 23 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six.

On the hunt for goal, Proteas opener Quinton de Kock was fired by Mohammed Siraj in the first over. Also, Manan Vohra played a good 19 run knockout before being sacked by Josh Hazlewood in the 5th over. Deepak Hooda played an incredible innings of 45 runs before losing his wicket in the 15th over.

In the end, KL Rahul played a knock-off of 79 runs and 28 balls including 3 fours and 5 sixes and stepped out in the 19th over, which was bowled by Josh Hazlewood. Krunal Pandya also got out in the same over. Evin Lewis also didn’t perform well and Lucknow Super Giants were limited to 193/6.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to IPL 2022 Eliminator between LSG and RCB:

Batting and bowling performances were the same by RCB and Lucknow, but it was the field work that made the difference. Lucknow dropped catches and RCB fielded excellently. Congratulations to RCB. #RCBvsLSG #TATAIPL2022 pic.twitter.com/YTb3Hf4gOI

Prior to the season, I expected LSG and PBKS to both go all out with the squads they had. LSG did relatively better, but the way they started the season and the kind of depth they had they will regret not finishing in the top 2. #LSGvRCB #IPL2022

Lucknow about strategized. Switched a little late. In the pursuit of 208 they came up 14 runs short, although the last 2 overs came to nothing. Well done #RCBVSLSG

Everyone wins except LSG and DC.

Great effort KL. Do not worry.
RCB has to go in. I’ve always admired what they do off the field.
Time for them to flex some muscles when it matters and let it work “on the field”.
RCB vs RR will be another great match.

Hasaranga saved at least 20 runs for RCB tonight, a big factor for his side.

Made 9.4 overs for a run rate of 8.17 in a 10.4 RPO chase. This after playing 2.5 overs of the PP, where he also scored just 26 points.
Potentially a game that loses innings. I hope these innings make him change his approach for good and unlock the potential Buttler/Warner in him.

Harshal Patel had given up 6 runs before bowling a legal ball in the 18th over – still getting just 8 runs in the over, with a wicket to boot. Excellent. #RCBvLSG
