Twitter reacts as GT takes victory in the battle for newcomers in Game 4 of the IPL 2022 season

Gujarat Titans (GT) kicked off their campaign with a win over fellow newbies, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Game 4 of the IPL 2022 season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Gujarat chased for a goal of 159 and had trouble losing the first two wickets within three overs. Captain Hardik Pandya was promoted to number 4 and played a light-hearted cameo of 33 from 28 balls before being sent off by his brother.

Matthew Wade and David Miller also gave their best with similar nifty cameos before Rahul Tewatia saw the team through in the final stage against the death bowling of Dushmantha Chameera and Avesh Khan.

Mohammed Shami previously ran through LSG’s top order. he rejected KL Rahul of the first-ever ball of the innings before rattling the stumps of Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey in consecutive overs.

Deepak Hooda then paired with debutant, Ayush Badoni, to revive the innings with an 87-run unification. Both scored fifty before being fired. Krunal Pandya played a 13-ball 21-run knock to push the score further to 158/6.

Returning Varun Aaron took 2 wickets, but eventually gave up 45 runs in his four overs. Shami returned numbers of 3/25, while Afghan spinner, Rashid Khan, took 1/27 in his 4-over spell.

As for Lucknow’s bowling attack, Chameera was the choice of the bowlers with numbers of 2/22. However, Rahul surprisingly ended up bowling for Chameera, who may have been chasing him in the end.
