Twitter Erupts As Mumbai Indians Finally Take A Win In IPL 2022 By Beating Rajasthan Royals By 5 Wickets

The 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) was played on Saturday 30 April between the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets against Rajasthan Royals to register their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first and made two changes to the XI in play as Tim David and Kumar Kartikeya Dewald Brevis and Jaydev Unadkat replaced Unadkat in the team. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals did not make any changes to the playing XI and drafted the same team.

Leading first batters, RR opening duo Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal added 26 runs off 27 balls before the latter was ejected for 15 by spinner Hrithik Shokeen on the second ball from the 5th left.

A small partnership of 28 runs at 18 was built between Buttler and Sanju Samson before the latter was fired for 16 by debutant Kumar Kartikeya. At the end of the 10 overs, Rajasthan Royals was at 73/2.

Jos Buttler, hitting very slow, decided to speed up his innings in the 16th over, which was bowled by spin bowler Hrithik Shokeen.

Buttler hit sixes on the first ball and the second ball to complete his half-century on 48 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. He didn’t stop there, as he also hit two back-to-back sixes on the next two deliveries before being fired at the last ball of the over. Buttler’s innings ended at 67 runs off 52 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Finally, after failing the middle order, Ravichandran Ashwin played an incredible cameo of 21 runs on 9 balls, including 3 fours and one six to help Rajasthan Royals place the ball. 158/6 on the plate.

MI skipper Rohit Sharma chased the target and got out for 2 in the 3rd over, which was bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin. Wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan, who struggled for runs in the 2022 Indian Premier League, stepped out in the 6th for 26 runs off 18 balls, which were bowled by Trent Boult and at the end of the power play, Mumbai Indians were at 41/2 .

Meanwhile, middle order batsman Suryakumar Yadav completed his half-century on 36 balls in the 14th over, which was bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Mumbai Indians lost the wickets of both Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma in the back-to-back overs as Suryakumar was sacked for 51 by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 15th over and Tilak was sacked for 35 by Prasidh Krishna in the 16th over.

In the end, Tim David played a good knock and Daniel Sams finished in style by breaking a six to help Mumbai Indians finally take the win in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.
