In the two losses in the last two games, it was clear that Lucknow’s at bat was not in order. They were knocked out for 82 against Gujarat Titans and could only take out 154 against Rajasthan Royals.

It is their middle order that has wavered more often than not. While Deepak Hooda was the only positive, young Ayush Badoni’s willow has been silent for far too long. In bowling, Dushmantha Chameera has not been among the wickets and has been expensive.

LSG Playing XI vs KKR: Who’s Out?

  • Ayush Badoni was unable to fire after the initial success.
  • In fact Badoni’s return in the last seven games is: 5 out 7 vs RR, 13 out 13 vs RCB, 14 out 11 vs MI, 4 out 4 vs PBKS, 15* out 18 vs KKR, 8 out 11 vs GT and 0 out of 1 vs RR.
  • Since Badoni has been given the role of a finisher on the team, the team expects more from him. He hasn’t even struck 100+ strikes in his last four games.
  • Likewise, Dushmantha Chameera has also made a mistake.
  • In the last four matches, Chameera has taken just two wickets, but has conceded runs with a savings rate of over 8.
  • In the final game against RR, Chameera conceded 35 runs in four overs without any returns.

LSG Playing XI vs KKR: Who Should Come?

  • Among batters, Manish Pandey is the only experienced player on the bench.
  • Although the Karnataka captain and former India No. 4 has not been in the runs, he could be a trusted soldier in tough matches.
  • Bringing him in could bolster the middle class as Marcus Stoinis hasn’t had the best of seasons.
  • In bowling, KL Rahul has two options in Krishnappa Gowtham for an extra spinner or Andrew Tye to keep the pace.
  • Evin Lewis can also be called in to have the all-around option.

As for other places, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock have to blast from all cylinders against a resurrecting KKR. They are on the ropes and will be at their best. Deepak Hooda has been outstanding and he will be key for Lucknow.

Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis have not had the best outings with the bat and will have to fire. In the bowling, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi will hold the key as the surface slows down.

Avesh Khan’s variations and slower deliveries will be helpful on deathovers, while his pace with the new ball could rattle KKR openers, which aren’t in good hands.
