Liam Livingstone finally announced himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when the England international delivered 60 runs from just 32 deliveries with five fours and five towering sixes to help Punjab Kings (PBKS) post a competitive total of 180/ 8. Backing up his solid batting performance in bowling, he took two wickets to win the match for his team with 54 runs in match 11 of IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Speaking of how the game went, skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss when CSK chose to field first. They made one change with Chris Jordan replacing Tushar Deshpande. PBKS brought in Jitesh Sharma and Vaibhav Arora instead of Raj Bawa and Harpreet Brar. Captain Mayank Agarwal only scored four points while Bhanuka Rajapaksa unfortunately got nine points.

Shikhar Dhawan was then joined in the middle by the aggressive Liam Livingstone. Dhawan collected 33 runs, but England player Livingstone stole the show and scored a brutal half-century. Wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma collected 26 runs off just 17 balls with three sixes.

In the chase on the run, Gaikwad’s poor form spread as he only managed to score one run. CSK’s top order was blown away when they ran into big trouble on 36/5. Shivam Dube then crushed a half-century battle as he amassed 57 runs from 30 deliveries. MS Dhoni scored 23 runs, but PBKS bowlers were at the top of their game.

Rahul Chahar and Vaibhav Arora cast brilliant spells of 25-3 and 21-2 respectively as CSK lost their third consecutive game of the campaign. For his all-round show, Liam Livingstone was named Player of the Match.
