LSG defeated MI Highlights – KL Rahul PAID: Although the bowling team is obliged to start over for the last time within the allotted time, LSG fell far behind. If LSG repeats that slow overspeed, KL Rahul will be fined 100% of the match amount and suspended for one match.

“The Lucknow Super Giants have been fined after they sustained a slow overage during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Match 37 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday,” a BCCI media release.

“Since it was the second offense of the season for the team under the IPL code of conduct regarding minimum violations, Captain KL Rahul was fined Rs 24 lakhs,” added a statement.

IPL 2022: what is a slow overspeed?

  • ICC rules require the bowling team to bowl 14.11 overs per hour in T20s.
  • For ODIs it’s 14.28 and 15 for Test cricket.
  • In T20s, 20 overs must be completed in 1 hour and 25 minutes.
  • Under the new MCC laws, already in effect in the IPL 2022, the bowling team will be one fielder short outside the 30-yard circle.
  • As LSG failed to restart the final in the 85th minute for the second time, the captain was fined Rs 24 lakh.

IPL 2022: Slow Penalty for Excessive Speed:

  • First time: Captain fined Rs 12 lakh
  • 2nd time: Captain Fine Rs 24 Lakh, 25% of 6 lakh for each of the 10 other players.
  • 3rd time: captain fined 100% of match money, suspended for one match
  • All players in the Playing XI will be fined 50% or Rs 12 lakh each.

As for the match, KL Rahul played with a century. He hit his third century against the Mumbai Indians. It was his second century of IPL 2022 when his one man show helped LSG after 168/6.

Mumbai Indians struggled in pursuit again. Ishan Kishan flopped again and so did Dewald Brevis. But it was Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket that took MI out of the fray. Rohit Sharma scored the highest score with 39, while Tilak Varma scored 38. Kieron Pollard’s flop show continued as Mumbai Indians scored just 132/8 in 20 overs and lost by 36 runs.
