IPL 2022 – CSK vs KKR LIVE: Who will open for KKR? KKR has lost Shubman Gill to Gujarat Titans. Rahul Tripathi was also picked up by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2022 auction. Aaron Finch is also not available for the first 5 matches of IPL 2022.

Who works with Iyer? Venkatesh Iyer remains open despite his shift to the middle order for India.

  • According to reports coming in from the KKR camp, the team wants to give Ajinkya Rahane a try as an opener. But with Sunil Narine by his side and his appearance in BPL to back him up, it will be difficult for KKR to look further.
  • Rahane has also had little playing time at Delhi Capitals in recent seasons. He will hope that a shift in teams will help him change his fortune.
  • 3rd option for KKR could be Sam Billings. Billings has been open in the past and could be a good choice for KKR.

Meanwhile, the middle order for KKR is all sorted. Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer are expected to finish in 3rd and 4th place, with Sam Billings likely to follow.

The Englishman is also expected to put on the gloves, with Sheldon Jackson and Baba Indrajith being KKR’s only other options.

West Indian duo Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will fill in as finishers and complete the batting order.

With Pat Cummins out, Tim Southee will lead the charge in his absence, with Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy providing support.

Umesh Yadav should take the last spot in the lineup to bring more speed on the attack.

Strong and weak points:

KKR Strength: In Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, KKR has a solid core with Sam Billings also joining as a goalkeeper batsman. In addition, although they are all destructive batters, in Narine and Russell, KKR has two true all-rounders guaranteeing a minimum of six overs from each game, adding a great deal of flexibility.

KKR Weaknesses: However, the first XI features two Indian stalwarts who have played a total of 23 matches over the past two IPL seasons.

Rahane played 11 matches for Delhi and scored 121 runs with a strike rate of less than 105 while Umesh did not play a single match in the 2021 season. In 2020, he played in two matches but went wicketless with an economy of 11.85.

There are not many options on the bench with domestic stalwarts Rinku Singh, Sheldon Jackson and Baba Indrajith in the ranks. The bowling is even thinner with Rasikh Salam, Ashok Sharma is the only other Indian pace options.
