This blockbuster deal will greatly benefit the 10 IPL franchises. Their share of the media rights revenue of the central pool will increase by at least Rs 500 crore each.

IPL Media Rights Revenue – How Much Will Each Franchise Bring In? IPL’s franchisees will not only see their coffers grow. But the rise in earnings will also push their valuations to new levels.

For seven out of 10 IPL franchisees, valuations are already above $1 billion. The increase in EBIDTA for franchises will further increase valuations for all 10 IPL teams.

“Along with everyone else, franchise partners are our biggest stakeholders. When BCCI benefits, it is clear that the largest stakeholder also benefits. We are pleased to have been able to deliver growth and deliver on our promises to IPL owners.” said Arun Dhumal to InsideSport after the IPL Media Rights tender.

How Much Has IPL Media Revenue Grown? Media rights revenues grew by almost 196%. IPL Per Match value which was at 54 Crore in the last cycle has reached 118 Cr with the sale of rights.

  • Package A: Sold to Disney Star for 23,575 Cr
  • Package B: Viacom packed the package for 20,500 Cr
  • Package C: Viacom got these NON-EXCLUSIVE packages for Rs 3,273 Cr
  • Package D: Overseas TV and Digital Rights are shared by Viacom18 and Times Internet for Rs 1324 crore. Viacom18 won the rights of AUS, SA, UK Territories, while Times Internet took home the MENA and US sectors.

How do teams monetize IPL?

All IPL teams receive a share of the revenue from Media Rights (Television & Digital). BCCI shares 50% of the media and sponsorship revenues with franchises under the franchise contracts.

While franchises have their own revenue from sponsorship, ticket sales, and other ways to make money, CENTRAL POOL contributes the maximum to their coffers.

As the total revenue from IPL Media Rights Sales was 48,390 Crore. 50% of this amount will be divided among the 10 IPL teams.

In addition to the media rights revenue, BCCI will also share 50% of the sponsorship revenue with the IPL teams. The total revenue of this component has already reached 1100 Crore in IPL 2022.

Like the Media Rights Revenues, this part will also give franchise a bigger pie from the upcoming season.
