The form of Gujarat Titans in the continuous IPL 2022 season was a real fantasy. During their very first season, Gujarat Titans performed extremely well to reach the finals and they will face Rajasthan Royals in the mega event.
all-rounder Rahul Tewatia chipped in with decisive punches for the side and one can’t help but remember his knock against Punjab Kings where he crushed two sixes of the last two balls of the match to get his team across the line.
I’ve been working on my offside: Rahul Tewatia
Speaking to NDTV, Tewatia provided insight into his thinking and he also saved some high praise for Hardik Pandya.
“No, not at all (whether he’s thinking of the nickname ‘Iceman’). Cricket is a game of pressure, whoever handles pressure well is a champion. I don’t think about the name people have given me. After IPL I will think about the name people have given me. I just hope I keep helping my team to win the games.” Tewatia told NDTV that.
“I feel like I’ve scored more limits on the outside than on the leg side this year. Last year my leg area was on the dominant side, but this year I worked on my offside. I finally carried out my plans, if your plans are carried out in the match, it will also benefit your team.” he continued.
Whoever thought we wouldn’t go far is wrong: Rahul Tewatia
After the mega sale in Bengaluru, a few people had said that on paper Gujarat Titans don’t seem to have a good side. Be that as it may, the team proved the doubters wrong by reaching the final of the IPL 2022.
“Everyone has their own predictions, whoever thought we wouldn’t get very far turned out to be wrong. Halfway through the season I heard a lot about us hitting, that middle class is not that strong. “They didn’t have a good auction.” But now look how many matches our middle class has won for us. Everyone’s talking about it.
This is cricket, not everyone can have a perfect team after the mega sale. When the auction was over, we were happy with the squad we had. Openers were perfect, middle order was perfect. We were happy when we saw the team, we had met for a camp in Ahmedabad and everyone had confidence in it.” said Tewatia.
Victory over LSG most satisfying for me: Rahul Tewatia
When asked about the most satisfying game of the season, the all-rounder said:
“For me, the season opener against Lucknow Super Giants was the most satisfying. We had lost four wickets, I scored 40 runs from there, it gave the team momentum and I got a little momentum too.
If you initially play good innings for the team, that also gives the team confidence. The first game against LSG went very well and it gave us a lot of confidence.”
Hardik Pandya keeps things simple both on and off the pitch: Rahul Tewatia
Finally, speaking of Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan, Tewatia said: “Hardik keeps things simple both on and off the field. He practices the same way every time, whether he has scored points or not. He keeps the atmosphere pretty chilled. It doesn’t look like Hardik will be captain for the first time.”
“I’ve talked a lot about bowling with Rashid Khan. If Rashid doesn’t take a wicket, then you just see he only allows 15-20 runs. He has a big influence on the game. Rashid Bhai also told us that he has worked a lot on his percussion and it showed this season.” he added
