IPL 2022, CSK vs GT LIVE Score: Play XI, Toss; Dream11 Prediction, Stats, Squads, Streaming Updates

Hello and welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of IPL 2022 Match 46 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans from Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

A team is a IPL Newcomer. The other is a four-time champion. One has already qualified for the play-offs. The other is out in the race to the last four. On paper and form, the IPL 2022 corresponds between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday seems to be a mismatch.

But the Titans will feel that this game is an excellent opportunity to test their bench strength and smooth out any wrinkles. For CSK, it’s all about which Super Kings team will appear – the Delhi Capitals dominates awith all three departments in perfect harmony, or the one that dropped to the second lowest IPL total in the next match and lost to the Mumbai Indians by five wickets?

Titans were phenomenal in Powerplay. They took 24 wickets (first place) with an economy rate (ER) of 7.45 (second best). Mohammed Shami’s 10 wickets within the first six at an ER of 6.12 will keep the CSK top order sharp, especially after it was disintegrated by the Mumbai seamen and reduced to 32 for 5 in the Powerplay.

Rashid v Conway

Rashid Khan vs Devon Conway could also become a very important duel if the latter can survive the initial burst of pace. Conway has the best strike rate vs spin (196.5) in IPL-15 of all batters, with a minimum of over 100 runs against spin bowling.

In 12 matches so far, Rashid has 15 wickets with an ER of 6.79. However, in the two games at the Wankhede this year, Rashid has just one wicket while conceding 72 runs with an ER of 9.00. Now Rashid could look at Conway on the fuller side of a good length to give him less time to adjust off the field. But Conway’s horizontal bat shots — sweep and reverse sweep — and the ability to step at spinners, too, should serve him well.

Rashid and debutant R. Sai Kishore had combined numbers of 6 for 31 in the final game in Titans’ 62-run win against Lucknow Super Giants. Between overs 7 and 16, CSK scores at 8.58 rpo (third best), so the Titans spin duo won’t be able to do their job. Rashid has a distinct advantage over any of CSK’s three middle-class batters. He has knocked out Moeen Ali three times in four innings while having only 36 in 26 balls.

In Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway, CSK has a robust opening pair. The two have a stand of half a century and two centuries in just five turns.

In the bowling department, Mukesh Choudhary was a revelation with the new ball. His match-up with Gujarat’s top order will set the tone. At the Wankhede this year, the pace has surpassed spin with fast bowlers picking 118 wickets and just 53 spinners; that should support him.

Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu caused a stir on match night after deleting a tweet saying that IPL 2022 would be his last season. It was later learned that the CSK brains trust spoke to Rayuduwho subsequently deleted the tweet.

All said and done, the Super Kings will believe that this season’s tribulations herald an imminent new dawn. After all, the lows of 2020 gave way to a fourth IPL title for CSK last year.

As for the Titans, the sprint to the finish begins now.
