If we make the playoffs great, but even if we don’t it won’t be the end of the world – MS Dhoni after 91 run win over DC

It was a perfect game – MS Dhoni

At the post-match presentation ceremony, MS Dhoni said that the match against Delhi Capitals was a perfect match for Chennai Super Kings. He explained:

“It really helps. It would have been better if we had won somewhere so early. It was a perfect game. The batters did very well. It was a toss where we wanted to win and field first, but in my heart I was okay with losing the toss. The ball stops and comes, and it behaves only after 13-14 overs.”

MS Dhoni further commended Chennai Super Kings pacers Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh for their performance. He said:

“Everyone has contributed. Runs on the board really help, and it was important to limit their big hitters. Both Simarjeet and Mukesh have taken time to mature. They have the abilities, the more they play, the better they get at the game feel.”

“It is ultimately about reading what is a good delivery to bowl and which is a delivery not to bowl. T20 cricket is all about knowing which delivery not to bowl.”

Dhoni, who made a 21 point cameo in the match, said he dislikes hitting from the first ball. He claimed:

“I don’t like going in and hitting right away. But with only 12 deliveries left, if some of us contribute with a score of 8 out of 2, it helps. But scoring 2 or 3 runs doesn’t help.”

MS Dhoni signed off by talking about the chances of Chennai Super Kings making it to the playoffs and saying it would be great if they make it to the playoffs. However, he added that if they don’t make the playoffs, “it won’t be the end of the world”.

“I’m not a big fan of math. Even in school I wasn’t good at it. Thinking about the NRR does not help. You just want to enjoy the IPL. When there are two other teams playing, you don’t want to be pressured and thinking. You just have to think about what to do in the next game. If we make the play-offs, great. But even if we don’t, it’s not the end of the world.”
