Delhi Capitals plays XI vs MIWhat will Rishabh Pant do without 5 overseas stars? With 5 missing foreign players, Rishabh Pant only has two foreigners at his disposal.

The Capitals only have New Zealand goalkeeper Tim Seifert and West Indian batter Rovman Powell among their contingent.

Rishabh Pant will have to rely on his Indian stars to deliver the good.

The IPL 2020 finalists are well stocked in the department with a large number of domestic talent on their roster.

Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur are at the core of the side with Seifert and Powell to fill in on Sunday.

Kuldeep Yadav will share the spin bowling duties with Axar Patel, while Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed, will support Thakur in the attack.

Indian U-19 World Cup captain Yash Dhull, Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh, KS Bharat and Lalit Yadav will all compete to fill spots in the batting order.

In Warner’s absence, Delhi is likely to throw Tim Seifert at the top of the rankings, who could fill in for Warner’s aggressive at the top of the rankings. Seifert is a multi-dimensional player and could play anywhere in the turn order, meaning Yash Dhull and Mandeep Singh will also be in battle.

KS Bharat impressed for RCB at No. 3 last season, including a final six against the Capitals, and will be one of the contenders for the spot. Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell are expected to bat at number 4 and number 5 with another batsman to follow with Sarfaraz Khan also in the fray. DC could also choose Seifert as the finisher or a Mandeep Singh at No. 6, both of whom have starred in the roles earlier in their careers.

Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur add much-needed depth to the percussion, while last year’s find should pimp Chetan Sakariya Khaleel Ahmed as the pacemaker on the left arm. Khaleel could take the place of the third sailor in the XI but will face competition Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Nagarkoti’s ex KKR teammate Kuldeep Yadav will pick up the final slot and be DC’s lead spinner for the season. The left-arm Chinese bowler has struggled in recent seasons, but will happily deliver on his promise and repay DC’s trust in him.

Delhi Capitals Strengths and Weaknesses

Rishabh Pant is in great shape and so are some of their young stars in Yash Dhull and Sarfaraz Khan. In Pant, Thakur, Patel, Shaw and Kuldeep – Capitals, five Indian internationals have a strong core, despite having Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer in the auction.

As for the weaknesses, Delhi will find it very difficult to fill the gaps left by their foreign players. While the IPL 2022 finalists will have players to fill those roles, their lack of experience and parentage could hurt Delhi’s plans for the season.

Although their percussion has sufficient depth with Shardul Thakur at number 8, their quality is a concern with the absence of Anrich Nortje. Sakariya had a decent IPL last season and will be fair to either Khaleel Ahmed or Kamlesh Nagarkoti, without having established themselves in the IPL in recent years.
