The pacer played 11 matches for Mumbai Indians in the 15th edition of IPL and also scalped 13 wickets with an economy of 8.81. “I think this whole Mumbai Indian environment is really helpful in making a person a cricketer so it was great, chatting with MJ (Mahela Jayawardene) and Bondy (Shane Bond) I found very helpful, those conversations that I was talking to MJ about what he was doing when he was struggling and he was just talking about keeping it simple to be relaxed,” said Sams in a video shared by MI.

Sams also spoke about this year’s MI campaign and how they were not up to date on their performance in the tournament.

“Of course there were some challenges, a good time around, we didn’t perform quite as we wanted, but we are excited about what’s to come next year,” said Sam.

“I think a lot of us in this squad have had to learn and tackle a lot of things because of the way we performed. I think it’s not the most ideal season, I think it’s an important season for myself for everyone to get better cricketers, to become better players,” he added.

Fast bowler added that he is proud of himself for how he bounced back in difficult situations and also mentioned mental ability as an important aspect.

“We talk a lot about skills and execution and stuff, but I think the only thing that has developed for me is the mental skills. I think this tournament really helped me build another layer, or maybe more than one low on it”, said Sams

“Just going through difficult performances, how you bounce back, reacting to those performances, how you feel about yourself, what you think about when you go into the next match, all these challenges that I have to overcome with the help of this tournament. Working on myself a bit and coming back to perform and make an impact on the team is probably one of the proudest moments of my career being able to do that in an environment of such a high pressure, which clearly defines the TATA IPL is”, he added.

Daniel Sam made his debut for the Australian cricket team against India on December 6, 2020 in a three-match T20I series. He took one wicket in that match and had an economy of 11.81. Sams has played four T20Is and had a good BBL with Thunder where he was their leading wicket taker with 19 out of 24.57 and also hammered an astonishing 98 from 44 against Melbourne Renegades.
