With the Indian Premier League (IPL) approaching, the debate over each team’s expected starting lineups is at the fore. After a careful examination of all players and franchises, here is the best predicted XI from one of the favorites, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The Chennai Super Kings, under the tutelage of MS Dhoni, is one of the most trusted teams in the history of the IPL. When fans look at the team’s success over the years, we can see that one of the main reasons for their incredible steadfastness was team culture, confidence in players, and minimal changes and adjustments.

This edition looks the same, but of course with a new skipper, Ravindra Jadeja. CSK has reinvested in most of their former roster. Their policy of chasing tried and true players seems to take center stage again. While a few promising players were not retained, they were replaced by players who were at least as excellent if not better than those in attendance.

Given the team’s current roster, we’ll be looking at the most highly anticipated playing XI for CSK. Notably, the four-time champions will kick off their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the March 26 opening match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Here is the predicted Games XI of Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2022 Match 1

Openers – Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway

CSK had one of the strongest opening combos in IPL 2021, with Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad. As Faf du Plessis joined RCB, CSK added Devon Conway to their team. In attitude, the Kiwi opener resembles Faf du Plessis. He knows how to build an inning and can hit with power when needed. Conway seems to be a great alternative to Faf du Plessis, and under Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhonis supervision, he should be doing great.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, one of India’s new stars, will assist Conway. In recent years, the 2021 IPL Orange Cap holder has received accolades in all forms of cricket.

Middle Order – Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (World Cup)

Chennai side seems to have the same middle order as the final of the IPL 2021. The pillars in the center include Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni. In the mid-range, Uthappa and Rayudu had performed admirably for CSK. Even if they’re past their prime, there’s no harm in continuing to work with them. In the meantime, former skipper MS Dhoni will once again serve as a link between the finishers and the lower order.

Allrounders – Ravindra Jadeja (C), Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Dwayne Bravo

While new captains Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner and Dwayne Bravo are the same CSK all-rounders, Shivam Dube is a newcomer. Jadeja is a utility player. With Moeen Ali out for the first game, Mitchell Santner could be a suitable alternative in CSK’s lineup. Santner can be classified as a middle-ranking batter and is also a fantastic bowler. Bravo, on the other hand, is excellent with the ball. All three are important members of the team and can successfully fulfill their key roles.

Bowlers – Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Adam Milne

When it comes to the bowlers, CSK’s roster has gone through the biggest changes. While Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar managed the bowling positions in 2021, Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood are missing from the 2022 squad.

CSK now has the pace of Adam Milne. They also have Chris Jordan and Dwaine Pretorious, but Adam Milne will probably start out as CSK’s first pick as he’s more reliable and deadly than the other guys. Until Deepak is available, Rajvardhan Hangargekar can serve the team.

CSK’s Predicted Playing XI for KKR clash: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (WK), Ravindra Jadeja (C), Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, Dwayne Bravo, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Adam Milne
