5 players who were hit in the first half but flopped in the second

The IPL 2022 is approaching its business end of the season with the final week of the league phase approaching. Gujarat Titans are the only team to have secured a spot in the playoffs so far. Seven teams still have a chance to make the play-offs. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the two most successful teams in the league, have been eliminated this season.

The season has also been a season of two halves for many players and teams. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won five races at the trot in the first half, lost five in the second half. Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have pulled themselves together and have made a roaring comeback to stay in the reckoning. RCB and LSG lost some gas in the second half after being good in the first half.

Buttler leads the Orange Cap race with 627 runs from 13 games so far. He got all his three centuries in the first half of the season. His scores in the last five games were 67, 22, 30, 7 and 2.

His failure with the bat remains one of the main reasons why the Rajasthan Royals have not yet made it to the play-offs, even after playing so well in the first half of the season.

KL Rahul’s dip in form has also led to a notable slump in his team’s performance. They have lost two games in a row and are still on 16 points. They have lost two matches on the bounce and now have only one match left against KKR, which in many ways is a must-win for them. They have to win that game or they can’t finish in the top two.

Iyer is KKR’s leading points scorer with 351 runs from 13 games. However, his recent string of scores suggests his struggles in the season. He scored two fifties in the season, both of which came in the first half. His last five scores are 42, 34, 6, 6 and 15.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya is the second highest run scorer for Gujarat Titans with 351 runs from 12 matches. He missed a game due to an injury. Although Gujarat has made it to the play-offs, Pandya is struggling to score points in the second half of IPL 2022. He has only scored 46 points in the last five matches, which says volumes about his lack of form in the season.

Rashid Khan

Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan has scaled down a little bit in the second half. Overall, he has 16 wickets in the season, 8 of them in the second half. He got four in a game against LSG when they were thrown out for 82. In the second half, batters were a bit more offensive against him, going up against him. He has gone wicketless in three games in the second half.
